Project Overview

This was a promotional gift produced for Isis Conveyancing's customers—a practical A5 wiro-bound calendar designed to sit on desks and stay front-of-mind throughout the year. The aim was to create an attractive, functional calendar that customers would genuinely want to use daily, combining clear date presentation with subtle brand presence.

The design needed to reflect professionalism, clarity and brand consistency, while remaining unobtrusive enough to fit naturally into both home offices and corporate workspaces. It had to balance promotional value with genuine utility—a practical tool that subtly reinforces brand recall over twelve months.

Context & Audience

The calendar was created for customers and professional partners of Isis Conveyancing, designed to provide a practical desk item that subtly reinforces brand recall throughout the year. This audience includes solicitors, estate agents, mortgage brokers, and private clients—professionals who appreciate quality, clarity and functional design.

My Role & Responsibilities

Objectives

  • Deliver a polished A5 calendar that reflects Isis Conveyancing's brand
  • Ensure month pages were functional, readable and visually balanced
  • Create a promotional product that customers genuinely wanted to keep on their desks
  • Provide print-ready files that reproduced cleanly and accurately

Challenges

  • Designing within strict A5 space while keeping dates legible
  • Maintaining consistency across all months
  • Allowing for wiro binding safe zones and layout constraints
  • Balancing brand presence without overwhelming the practical use of the calendar

Process

1. Brand & Content Review

The process began by reviewing Isis Conveyancing's brand colours, typography and tone to ensure complete alignment with their existing identity. I also assessed the practical requirements for an A5 promotional calendar, including readability needs, desk placement considerations, and the balance between promotional messaging and daily functionality.

2. Concept Development

I explored visual themes that aligned with Isis Conveyancing's professional identity, proposing clean, minimal layouts suited for both home and corporate environments. The concept focused on uncluttered month grids, clear date hierarchies, and subtle brand integration that wouldn't distract from the calendar's primary utility.

3. Layout & Iteration

I built a master grid establishing spacing standards and date layout rules that would work consistently across all twelve months. The page composition, typography scale, and visual clarity were refined through iterative rounds, with particular attention paid to ensuring the calendar remained legible and practical for daily use while maintaining visual appeal.

4. Artwork & Pre-Press

The final phase involved preparing all twelve monthly pages plus cover and back cover as production-ready artwork. I carefully handled technical requirements including bleed allowances, crop marks, CMYK colour profiles, and correct binding safe zones for the wiro binding. The final files were delivered with clear specifications for the printer, ensuring smooth production with no technical issues.

Deliverables

Outcomes & Impact

Customers received a practical, high-quality item they could use daily throughout the year. The calendar kept Isis Conveyancing's brand visible year-round in both home and office environments, providing consistent brand touchpoints without being intrusive. The clean, consistent design reinforced the company's professional identity while serving as a genuinely useful desk tool that customers appreciated and retained.
